Raised in rabbit against the human GNAT2 protein, this unconjugated polyclonal IgG primary antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied as a 200 µL liquid aliquot in a vial format and is validated for Western blot detection. GNAT2 encodes the alpha subunit of cone transducin, a roughly 40 kDa heterotrimeric G-protein that couples red, green, and blue cone opsins to the cGMP-phosphodiesterase 6 (PDE6) effector complex in cone photoreceptors. In the cone phototransduction cascade, transducin activation triggers cGMP hydrolysis and the closing of cGMP-gated cation channels, producing the hyperpolarizing light signal that underpins daytime and color vision. Because biallelic loss-of-function mutations in GNAT2 cause autosomal recessive achromatopsia 4 (ACHM4) and selected cone dystrophies, this reagent is widely used in ophthalmology and vision research to confirm cone-specific expression in retinal lysates, map subcellular localization in cone outer segments, and probe signaling in heterologous expression systems. Provided unconjugated for flexibility in second-step labeling, the antibody recognizes the human antigen and is intended for research use only.
