Glyoxalase 1 (GLO1) is a zinc-dependent cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the isomerization of the methylglyoxal-derived hemithioacetal adduct into S-D-lactoylglutathione, the first committed step in the cellular detoxification of the cytotoxic dicarbonyl methylglyoxal. The Anti-Glyoxalase 1 Antibody [6F10] from Antibodies.com is a rat IgG2b monoclonal reagent that recognizes the ~21 kDa GLO1 monomer in human, mouse, and monkey samples and has been validated for Western blot, immunocytochemistry, and ELISA workflows. The antibody is supplied as a liquid preparation in a single vial containing 100 µg of total protein, and for best stability it should be stored refrigerated at 4 °C, with aliquoting recommended to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles. GLO1 expression is widely used as a read-out in studies of carbonyl stress, diabetic complications, tumor metabolism, and aging-related pathways.
