Raised in rabbit against the facilitative glucose transporter GLUT2 (SLC2A2), this unconjugated polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is validated for Western blot detection of the transporter in human and rat samples. GLUT2 mediates high-capacity glucose, fructose, and galactose flux across the plasma membrane and is most abundantly expressed in hepatocytes, pancreatic beta cells, the basolateral surface of intestinal epithelial cells, and the proximal tubules of the kidney, where it supports glucose sensing, gluconeogenic output, and transepithelial sugar transport.

Immunoblotting with this reagent is widely used to track GLUT2 expression in metabolic disease models, including type 2 diabetes, hepatic insulin resistance, and dietary or pharmacological intervention studies, since changes in transporter abundance at the plasma membrane correlate with altered hepatic glucose output and beta-cell responsiveness. The polyclonal format provides recognition of multiple epitopes across the transporter, which can be advantageous when probing for full-length versus truncated GLUT2 splice isoforms or when working with tissues where post-translational modification patterns vary between species.

The antibody is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH approximately 7.2, with 0.05% sodium azide added as a preservative, and is provided as a 50 µl vial sufficient for multiple blotting experiments. For routine use, store refrigerated and protect from light; if the vial will be consumed over weeks rather than days, aliquot the contents to limit freeze-thaw cycles of the working stock. Sodium azide is included to inhibit microbial contamination, so handle the reagent with appropriate laboratory safety practices.
