GluR6, also called GRIK2, is a subunit of the kainate-type ionotropic glutamate receptor family that mediates fast excitatory neurotransmission in the central nervous system. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com was raised against GluR6 and recognises the human and mouse orthologue in both denatured and fixed sample contexts. Researchers use it for western blot detection of GRIK2 expression in transfected cell lysates and primary neuronal tissue, and for immunohistochemistry localisation of the receptor in rodent and human brain sections, where it labels neuronal populations that express the kainate receptor subunit. Supplied as 100 µL of polyclonal antiserum, the antibody fits standard chemiluminescent western blot protocols as well as peroxidase- and fluorescence-based IHC workflows. Aliquot on first use, store refrigerated for short-term handling, and freeze at -20 °C for long-term storage to limit freeze-thaw damage to the reagent. The polyclonal nature of the reagent increases the likelihood of recognising multiple epitopes across the cytoplasmic C-terminal region of GRIK2, which is useful when probing truncated or post-translationally modified receptor variants from heterologous expression systems.
