Produced in rabbit as an unconjugated polyclonal reagent, this phospho-specific antibody from Antibodies.com targets the GluR4 (GRIA4) AMPA-type ionotropic glutamate receptor subunit only when serine 862 is phosphorylated. The S862 site lies within the intracellular C-terminal tail of GluR4 and is a documented substrate of protein kinase C signaling, linking this modification to regulated AMPA receptor trafficking, postsynaptic insertion, and forms of long-term depression in central nervous system neurons.

The reagent is supplied at 1 mg/mL in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, in a 100 µL vial. It cross-reacts with human, mouse, and rat GluR4, supporting comparative phospho-proteomic work across rodent disease models and human tissue specimens. Researchers commonly pair it with a pan-GluR4 antibody to normalize phosphorylation against total receptor levels.

Beyond Western blot validation, the antibody is used in immunoblot surveys of activity-dependent AMPA receptor regulation, in studies of synaptic plasticity in hippocampal and cortical primary neurons, and in profiling phospho-GluR4 changes in models relevant to temporal lobe epilepsy, ischemic stroke, excitotoxicity, and neurodegenerative disease. Storage recommendation: refrigerate the supplied vial, aliquot to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of working stocks, and protect from light exposure to preserve antibody activity over the shelf life of the product.
