This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against the AMPA-type glutamate receptor subunit GluR1 (GRIA1) when phosphorylated at serine 863, a PKC-dependent modification that regulates AMPA receptor trafficking and synaptic strength. The antibody is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, in a 100 µl vial format. Validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry, the reagent detects the phospho-S863 form of GluR1 in human, mouse, and rat samples. It is unconjugated, allowing flexible choice of secondary reporter, and enables studies of excitatory synapse function, long-term potentiation, and PKC-mediated signaling in neural tissue. Researchers commonly apply the antibody to hippocampal or cortical sections to map phosphorylation changes following LTP induction or pharmacological challenge. Pairing this reagent with a pan-GluR1 antibody enables direct comparison of phosphorylated versus total receptor pools across treated and control preparations.
