This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against the AMPA-type ionotropic glutamate receptor subunit 1 (GluR1, also referred to as GluA1 or GRIA1) and selectively detects the receptor when phosphorylated at serine 849. Phosphorylation at Ser849 is a well-characterized protein kinase C (PKC) site that influences AMPA receptor trafficking, channel properties, and the expression of long-term depression at glutamatergic synapses, and is therefore a useful epitope for research into synaptic plasticity, excitatory neurotransmission, and kinase-dependent receptor regulation.

The reagent is supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in a PBS buffer containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, in a 100 µl volume. Validation data for this lot cover Western blot and immunohistochemistry, and confirmed reactivity is reported for Human, Mouse, and Rat samples. As a polyclonal reagent, the antibody recognizes multiple epitopes on the phosphorylated form of GluR1, which can be advantageous for detecting the target across a range of expression levels in cell lysates, brain tissue, and primary neuronal preparations.

For long-term storage, aliquot the antibody and keep frozen at -20°C; the 50% glycerol cryoprotectant preserves activity across freeze-thaw cycles when handled with standard cold-chain precautions. Working aliquots can be kept refrigerated and protected from light to minimize degradation. Sodium azide is included as a preservative, so take appropriate handling precautions during use.
