Anti-GLUL Antibody

Raised in rabbit against recombinant GLUL, this polyclonal antiserum targets glutamine synthetase, the enzyme that condenses glutamate and ammonia into glutamine and plays a central role in nitrogen homeostasis, ammonia detoxification, and neurotransmitter recycling in the central nervous system. Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated reagent, it is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples.

Glutamine synthetase is widely adopted as a marker in neuroscience for astrocytes, where it labels perineuronal processes and cell bodies in fixed brain sections, and as a marker of pericentral hepatocytes in liver tissue, where its zonal loss is studied in models of acute liver injury. Western blot of cell or tissue lysates typically reveals a single band near the predicted molecular weight, while immunofluorescence permits subcellular localization studies. Because the antibody is unconjugated, end users can pair it with a secondary antibody of their choice for multiplexed imaging or chromogenic detection.
