Validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry, this unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against full-length human glyoxalase I (GLO1; lactoylglutathione lyase), the cytosolic zinc metalloenzyme that converts the methylglyoxal–glutathione hemithioacetal into S-D-lactoylglutathione in the glyoxalase pathway. The 100 µl vial of antiserum cross-reacts with mouse and rat orthologues alongside the human target.

Because GLO1 is the principal route for detoxifying the glycolytic byproduct methylglyoxal, it is widely studied in the context of methylglyoxal-driven advanced glycation end-products (AGEs). Common research applications include probing altered glyoxalase flux in diabetic complications such as nephropathy and retinopathy, investigating GLO1 overexpression and gene copy-number amplification in solid tumors, and characterizing glyoxalase activity in aging and neurodegeneration models. Confirmed reactivity across human, mouse, and rat samples supports parallel work in rodent disease models and clinical tissue specimens.

The unconjugated format gives flexibility to couple the antibody directly to HRP, biotin, or a fluorophore of choice, supporting immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue and standard SDS-PAGE immunoblotting of whole-cell or tissue lysates. Aliquot on arrival and refrigerate to preserve reactivity across multiple experiments.
