Connexin 43, encoded by the GJA1 gene, is the most widely expressed gap junction protein in mammalian tissues, and phosphorylation at serine 368 (S368) is a key regulatory event that closes gap junction channels in response to PKC activation and cellular stress. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal IgG antibody from Antibodies.com selectively targets GJA1 only when phosphorylated at S368, enabling researchers to separate the phospho-regulated state from total connexin pools in western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows. Validated for human, mouse, and rat samples, the reagent is supplied as a 50 µL vial and is routinely used in studies of cardiac ischaemia/reperfusion injury, where S368 phosphorylation changes rapidly after ischaemic insult, and in wound healing and epithelial migration research, where connexin 43 closure regulates keratinocyte and fibroblast movement. Investigators working on glial signalling, lens epithelium, and tumour microenvironment biology also rely on phospho-S368-specific detection to map dynamic changes in gap junction intercellular communication under pharmacological or genetic perturbation.
