The GH2 gene encodes growth hormone 2, also known as GH-V or the placental growth hormone variant, which is expressed predominantly by syncytiotrophoblast cells of the placenta and progressively replaces pituitary growth hormone in the maternal circulation during the second half of pregnancy. This unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and is intended for researchers studying placental endocrinology, maternal-fetal physiology, and trophoblast biology. The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of liquid and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human samples, supporting detection of endogenous GH2 protein in placental tissue lysates and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections. Because GH2 expression is largely placenta-restricted, the reagent is useful for distinguishing gestational growth hormone production from pituitary GH1 in decidual and villous preparations, and it has been applied in studies of preeclampsia, intrauterine growth restriction, and gestational diabetes. Storage at -20 °C in working aliquots is recommended to preserve reagent performance across multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
