Raised in rabbit and affinity-purified, this unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com recognizes gamma-glutamyltransferase 1 (GGT1), the membrane-bound ectoenzyme that initiates extracellular glutathione catabolism. Supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant, the 100 µl vial suits western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human, mouse, and rat specimens.

GGT1 is anchored to the plasma membrane through a single N-terminal transmembrane segment and is most highly expressed in kidney, liver, intestine, and bile duct epithelium, where it transfers the gamma-glutamyl moiety of extracellular glutathione and glutathione S-conjugates to acceptor amino acids and dipeptides. Investigators apply this reagent to study glutathione recycling, oxidative stress responses, multidrug-resistance mechanisms in tumor cells, hepatotoxicity and cholestasis models, and renal proximal tubule biology. It is recommended for immunoblot detection of the mature heavy chain near 64 kDa under reducing SDS-PAGE, and for IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue to localize GGT1 in epithelial structures. The sodium azide included in the buffer should be considered for any downstream application that is azide-sensitive.

Store frozen at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles; intended for research use only.
