GFER (Growth Factor, Augmenter of Liver Regeneration), also known as ALR or HERV1, is a flavin adenine dinucleotide–dependent sulfhydryl oxidase residing in the mitochondrial intermembrane space. There it drives oxidative folding of incoming precursor proteins through the MIA40/CHCHD4 relay, supporting mitochondrial biogenesis, hepatocyte proliferation after partial hepatectomy, and cellular redox balance. Loss-of-function variants in GFER have been linked to autosomal-recessive mitochondrial myopathy with cataracts and lactic acidosis, so dependable immunological detection of the protein is a routine requirement in studies of liver injury models, mitochondrial protein import, and oxidative stress signaling.
This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent is raised against human GFER and validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows, supplied by Antibodies.com as 100 µl of antisera. The polyclonal format increases the likelihood of recognizing multiple epitopes across the conserved ALR domain, which is useful when probing tissue lysates or fixed sections where epitope accessibility can vary between samples. Intended for research use only, the antibody supports laboratories investigating hepatic regeneration, mitochondrial biogenesis, and the molecular pathology of disorders associated with GFER dysfunction.
