This unconjugated monoclonal antibody targets glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), the principal intermediate filament of mature astrocytes in the central nervous system. Raised in mouse and reactive with rat GFAP, it is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry, supporting studies of astrocyte biology, glial scarring, and neuroinflammation in rodent tissue. The 100 µl format provides ample reagent for multiple blotting membranes or a series of stained sections, and the unconjugated format lets researchers pair it with their preferred secondary label for fluorescence, chromogenic, or chemiluminescent detection.
Supplied by Antibodies.com as a primary antibody, this reagent is suited for characterization of astrocyte populations, evaluation of neural injury models, and investigation of reactive gliosis in brain and spinal cord research. It performs on paraformaldehyde-fixed sections for IHC and on standard lysate preparations for Western blot, giving laboratories flexibility across morphological and biochemical readouts of astrocyte activity.
