GFAP (glial fibrillary acidic protein) is a class III intermediate filament protein that serves as the canonical cytoskeletal marker for mature astrocytes in the central nervous system. This unconjugated mouse monoclonal antibody, supplied by Antibodies.com, binds GFAP and is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, and flow cytometry workflows. The reagent is provided as 100 µl of purified IgG1 in a TBS buffer (pH 7.4) containing 1% BSA, 40% glycerol, and 0.05% sodium azide as preservative, and is reactive against human, mouse, and rat samples. Researchers commonly apply it to label astrocytic processes in brain tissue sections, monitor reactive gliosis following neural injury or disease models, and characterize glial differentiation in stem-cell-derived neuronal cultures.
