This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets GFAP, a class III intermediate filament protein that forms the principal cytoskeletal element of mature astrocytes. Raised in rabbit, the unconjugated reagent is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, a cryoprotective formulation suited to storage at -20°C. The 100 µl vial supports multiple experiments across immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry on fixed brain sections, and immunofluorescence labeling of astrocyte cultures. Validated reactivity covers human, mouse, and rat samples, making it a versatile marker for neuroscience workflows studying glial scar formation, reactive astrogliosis following injury, astrocyte differentiation in stem cell models, and characterization of glial tumors. Researchers routinely apply this reagent to confirm astrocyte identity in mixed neural cultures, map glial boundaries in tissue sections, and probe GFAP expression changes in neurodegenerative disease models.
