Raised in rabbit against the GEMIN2 target, this unconjugated polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock formulated in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant. The reagent was validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence applications and shows reactivity against human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting comparative work across standard mammalian model organisms.

GEMIN2 (also known as SIP1) is a core component of the SMN complex, the same macromolecular assembly whose disruption by SMN1 loss underlies spinal muscular atrophy. Researchers use this antibody to study snRNP biogenesis, the stepwise assembly of small nuclear ribonucleoproteins, the organization of nuclear gem and Cajal bodies, and the molecular pathology of motor neuron disease. Cross-reactivity with mouse and rat orthologs allows GEMIN2 levels to be tracked in established SMA model systems by immunoblot and tissue staining.

The product ships as a liquid aliquot preserved with sodium azide and stabilized by glycerol for freezer-compatible storage. In practice the antibody is commonly paired with anti-SMN or anti-coilin markers to dissect SMN complex composition or to map gem body architecture in immunofluorescence imaging.
