This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com specifically targets GDP-mannose 4,6-dehydratase (GMDS), a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the first committed step in the de novo biosynthesis of GDP-fucose from GDP-mannose. GMDS dehydrates its substrate to produce GDP-4-keto-6-deoxy-D-mannose, and published work has linked altered GMDS expression to epithelial-mesenchymal transition regulation and Notch signaling modulation in several human cancers, placing it at the intersection of glycobiology, developmental biology, and oncology research.

Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated polyclonal antiserum raised in rabbit, the antibody is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows on human samples. Investigators studying fucose-dependent glycosylation pathways, mucosal immunity, or tissue-level glycan remodeling can apply it to protein expression profiling and spatial localization studies across cell lines and archival tissue. The polyclonal format offers multi-epitope recognition, which is useful when probing GMDS across tissues where post-translational modification or splice variation is suspected.

Storage at -20 °C in working aliquots is recommended to preserve binding activity across repeated freeze-thaw cycles. The unconjugated format leaves conjugation choices open, so the antibody can be paired in-house with fluorophores, biotin, HRP, or other reporter enzymes to match individual assay designs.
