GDF-9 (Growth Differentiation Factor 9) is an oocyte-secreted member of the TGF-β superfamily that directs early ovarian follicle development and granulosa cell differentiation through SMAD2/3 signaling. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com binds the native GDF-9 protein and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat tissue sections.

The reagent ships as a 100 µl vial of a 1 mg/ml solution in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, ready to dilute into standard chemiluminescent detection workflows or HRP- and biotin-conjugated secondary staining. In reproductive biology, GDF-9 expression is largely restricted to oocytes from the primary follicle onward and is critical for cumulus expansion, ovulation, and female fertility, supporting applications ranging from knockout mouse phenotyping to studies of human ovarian pathology and infertility.

For handling, refrigerate the antibody at 4°C for short-term use; for longer projects, aliquot and freeze at -20°C, since the 50% glycerol cryoprotectant limits freeze-thaw damage and preserves polyclonal reactivity across many experiments. The host species is rabbit, the clonality is polyclonal, and no fluorophore or enzyme conjugation is included, leaving the format flexible for custom downstream labeling.
