This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets GDF-1 (Growth Differentiation Factor 1), a secreted signaling molecule belonging to the TGF-β superfamily. GDF-1 contributes to early embryonic left-right axis specification, nodal signaling crosstalk, and differentiation programs relevant to chondrogenesis and adipogenesis. The antibody is raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated liquid at 1 mg/ml in PBS, stabilized with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant, and packaged in a 100 µl vial.

Validated for Western blot, the reagent detects endogenous GDF-1 in lysates prepared from human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting comparative work across these three species. The polyclonal format provides recognition of multiple epitopes on both the ~39 kDa GDF-1 precursor and its processed mature forms, which is useful when studying processing, secretion, or cleavage-related biology. Published work has implicated GDF-1 dysregulation in hepatocellular carcinoma, gastric cancer, and certain pediatric solid tumors, and the antibody is suited to expression profiling and signaling studies in those contexts as well as in developmental biology and TGF-β family pathway research.

Handling and storage: store the vial at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light. For Western blot, a typical starting dilution range of 1:500 to 1:2000 is suggested for chemiluminescent detection, with optimal conditions to be determined empirically for each target tissue and sample preparation. The 0.1% sodium azide preservative should be removed by buffer exchange if the antibody is to be used in live-cell labeling or downstream conjugation workflows.
