Anti-GCK Antibody

This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets glucokinase (GCK), the hexokinase IV isozyme that acts as a glucose sensor in pancreatic beta cells and hepatocytes. The unconjugated rabbit reagent is supplied as 100 µl of polyclonal antiserum, validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human samples.

GCK catalyzes the ATP-dependent phosphorylation of glucose to glucose-6-phosphate and sets the threshold for glucose-stimulated insulin secretion, placing it at the center of studies on insulin regulation, hepatic carbohydrate handling, and maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY2). Investigators in pancreatic islet biology, hepatology, and metabolic disease research use this reagent to detect the endogenous ~52 kDa protein in cell and tissue lysates as well as in fixed tissue sections.

For western blot, the antibody is applied to extracts prepared from human liver or insulinoma-derived cell lines to confirm expression of the full-length enzyme.
