Offered by Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal IgG antibody targets human GTP cyclohydrolase 1 (GCH1), the rate-limiting enzyme that converts GTP to dihydroneopterin triphosphate in the tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) biosynthesis pathway. BH4 is the essential cofactor for phenylalanine hydroxylase, tyrosine hydroxylase, tryptophan hydroxylase, and all three nitric oxide synthase isoforms, linking GCH1 activity to dopamine and serotonin synthesis, phenylalanine catabolism, and vascular nitric oxide production. The unconjugated antibody is supplied as a 50 µl aliquot and is validated for Western blot detection of endogenous GCH1 in human cell and tissue lysates. Recommended storage is at -20 °C in buffered glycerol, and the reagent is intended for research use only. Typical applications include studies of dopaminergic neuron biology, the molecular pathogenesis of DOPA-responsive dystonia (Segawa disease, DYT5a), neurotransmitter pathway regulation, and the role of GCH1 in neuropathic pain sensitivity and endothelial nitric oxide signaling.
