Anti-GATM Antibody

GATM (Glycine Amidinotransferase, also known as L-Arginine:Glycine Amidinotransferase or AGAT) is a mitochondrial matrix enzyme that catalyzes the rate-limiting step of de novo creatine biosynthesis, transferring an amidino group from arginine to glycine to yield guanidinoacetic acid and ornithine. This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com was raised in rabbit and is supplied as an unconjugated IgG preparation at 1 mg/mL in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, packaged as 100 µL per vial.

The antibody recognizes human, mouse, and rat GATM and has been validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry. In WB it produces a band consistent with the expected ~44 kDa mature mitochondrial protein, and in IHC it produces cytoplasmic staining in tissues that carry out creatine synthesis, including kidney proximal tubules, pancreas, and liver. It is suited to studies of cellular energy metabolism, mitochondrial enzyme biology, and creatine deficiency syndromes, where loss-of-function variants in GATM are linked to arginine:glycine amidinotransferase deficiency and to a subset of Fanconi renotubular syndrome cases.

For storage, keep the vial at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycling; the 50% glycerol formulation remains fluid at this temperature. Thaw on ice and centrifuge briefly before opening. This product is intended for research use only and is not validated for diagnostic applications.
