Researchers studying giant axonal neuropathy and ubiquitin-proteasome biology use this polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com to detect endogenous gigaxonin, the BTB-Kelch family E3 Ub ligase adaptor encoded by the GAN gene. Loss-of-function mutations in GAN cause a rare childhood-onset neurodegenerative disease marked by progressive motor and sensory deficits, accumulation of intermediate filament aggregates, and characteristic axonal swellings on nerve biopsy.
Raised as a polyclonal reagent in rabbit and supplied as 100 µl per vial in unconjugated IgG format, the antibody is validated for Western Blot on human and mouse samples, including neural cell lines, peripheral nerve tissue, and patient fibroblast lysates. Suggested handling is to aliquot on arrival and store at -20 °C, limiting freeze-thaw cycles to preserve binding activity; the reagent is intended for research use only.
