Galactose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase (GALT) is a key enzyme in the Leloir pathway of galactose metabolism, catalyzing the conversion of galactose-1-phosphate and UDP-glucose into glucose-1-phosphate and UDP-galactose. Mutations in the GALT gene are the molecular basis of classic galactosemia, making the protein a subject of interest in metabolic disease research, newborn screening follow-up studies, and hepatology investigations.

This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against the GALT enzyme and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human, mouse, and rat tissue. Supplied as 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant, the reagent is ready to dilute into standard assay buffers for blotting membranes or staining fixed sections.

The polyclonal format provides multi-epitope recognition, useful when probing endogenous GALT levels in liver-derived extracts or characterizing expression patterns across mammalian model organisms. For immunohistochemistry, staining of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded liver tissue reveals hepatocyte cytoplasmic signal consistent with the established subcellular distribution of this enzyme.
