Anti-Galectin-8 Antibody

This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com recognizes Galectin-8, a tandem-repeat lectin encoded by LGALS8 that carries two carbohydrate-recognition domains and binds β-galactosides on glycoproteins and glycolipids. Galectin-8 acts as an intracellular sentinel: when pathogens such as Salmonella or Shigella rupture vacuolar membranes, Galectin-8 decorates the damaged vesicles and recruits NDP52, TAX1BP1, and related autophagy adaptors to initiate selective autophagy, a pathway first mapped in infected epithelial cells. The same lectin is also implicated in cell adhesion, integrin signaling, and tumor progression, with altered LGALS8 expression reported in breast, colon, lung, and prostate tissue cohorts.

Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antiserum, the antibody is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and ELISA. Cross-reactivity with human and mouse antigens makes it practical for matched patient-tissue and rodent-model work.
