Manufactured by Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal reagent is raised against LGALS1 (galectin-1), a ~14 kDa beta-galactoside-binding lectin also referred to as Gal-1, Galaptin, HBL, HLBP1, or 14 kDa laminin-binding protein. The antibody is supplied in two pack sizes — 50 µl and 100 µl — as an unconjugated liquid formulation at 1.0 mg/mL in phosphate-buffered saline (without Mg²⁺ and Ca²⁺) pH 7.4, containing 150 mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, and the protein content corresponds to the IgG fraction purified from rabbit serum. It is recommended for Western blot applications and has been validated on lysates from human, mouse and rat samples, with the recombinant immunogen corresponding to amino acids 1–135 of the human Galectin-1/LGALS1 sequence (NP_002296.1), yielding a band near 14–15 kDa. Recommended working dilutions fall in the range of 1:1,000–1:2,000 for Western blot, depending on the sample and detection system. The product is shipped at 4 °C and should be aliquoted and stored at –20 °C upon arrival, with repeated freeze/thaw cycles avoided to preserve activity. The host is rabbit, the clonality is polyclonal, the isotype is IgG, and the conjugate is unconjugated, making the reagent suitable for use with HRP- or fluorophore-labelled secondary antibodies of the researcher's choice. Each vial provides enough antibody for routine Western blot experiments on multiple membranes, and the cross-reactivity across human, mouse and rat orthologues reflects the high sequence conservation of LGALS1 between these species. This makes the reagent well suited for comparative studies of galectin-1 expression in cell lines and tissues in oncology, immunology and cell-biology research, where it is commonly used as a marker or loading control alongside complementary antibodies against other galectin family members.
