GAD65 (glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 kDa isoform, encoded by the GAD2 gene) is the membrane-anchored enzyme responsible for synthesizing GABA from L-glutamate at presynaptic nerve terminals. Its disruption is implicated in type 1 diabetes autoimmunity, stiff-person syndrome, cerebellar ataxia, and several forms of epilepsy.

Distributed by Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal primary antibody binds the human GAD65 protein and is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum that supports western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows. The reagent enables detection of endogenous GAD65 expression in neuronal cell lines, pancreatic islet beta cells, and fixed tissue sections, where the 65 kDa band can be resolved from the more widely expressed cytoplasmic GAD67 isoform.

The polyclonal format offers recognition of multiple epitopes on the target, which is useful when probing samples where post-translational modification or isoform-specific conformation may affect single-epitope binding. Investigators studying GABAergic neurotransmission, autoimmune diabetes biomarkers, or paraneoplastic neurological syndromes commonly apply this reagent at working dilutions optimized for their specific sample preparation.
