Anti-GAD1 / 2 Antibody

Offered through Antibodies.com, this affinity-purified reagent is raised in rabbit and targets the endogenous pool of GAD1 and GAD2, the two isoforms of glutamic acid decarboxylase. The polyclonal antibody is supplied at 1.0 mg/mL in a 50 µl volume, formulated as rabbit IgG in phosphate buffered saline (without Mg²⁺ and Ca²⁺), pH 7.4, with 150 mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as stabiliser. It is unconjugated, making it well suited for use with secondary detection reagents of the user's choice, and its specificity for total GAD1/GAD2 was achieved by immunising rabbits with a synthesised peptide derived from the human sequence, followed by affinity-chromatography purification against the epitope-specific immunogen. Validated applications cover Western blotting and immunohistochemistry on human and mouse samples, and the antibody should be stored at –20 °C with repeated freeze/thaw cycles avoided to preserve activity. As a research-use-only reagent, this product provides a reliable tool for laboratories studying GABAergic neurons, pancreatic islet biology and other contexts where GAD1/GAD2 expression profiling by immunoblotting or tissue staining is required.
