Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid Type B Receptor Subunit 2 (GABBR2) is the obligate partner of GABBR1 in the heterodimeric GABAB receptor, a class C G protein-coupled receptor central to slow inhibitory neurotransmission. This rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against the receptor and validated for Western blot detection across human, mouse, and rat samples, supplied as an unconjugated 200 µl liquid vial.

GABAB receptors couple through Gi/o proteins to modulate voltage-gated calcium channels and inwardly rectifying potassium channels, shaping excitatory and inhibitory balance in cortical, hippocampal, and cerebellar circuits. Mutations in GABBR2 have been linked to neurodevelopmental disorders, including Rett-like syndrome and epileptic encephalopathy, while baclofen and other GABAB ligands remain important pharmacological tools and clinical therapeutics. Researchers in synaptic physiology, GPCR signaling, and neuropharmacology use this reagent to probe receptor expression, heterodimer assembly, and membrane trafficking in brain tissue and in transfected heterologous cell lines.

Because the antibody is polyclonal, it recognizes multiple epitopes across the receptor's large extracellular Venus flytrap domain and its intracellular C-terminus, increasing the chance of a robust signal in Western blot when individual monoclonals give weak bands. Aliquot upon arrival to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and pair with standard HRP- or IRDye-conjugated secondary antibodies for chemiluminescent or fluorescent detection.
