Manufactured by Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal reagent targets FXN (frataxin), a mitochondrial protein associated with Friedreich ataxia and related research areas. The antibody is supplied as a 50 µL aliquot at a concentration of 1.0 mg/mL in unconjugated form, making it suitable for secondary-antibody-based detection workflows. It was raised in a rabbit host against a recombinant human FXN immunogen and subsequently purified by affinity chromatography using the same immunogen, ensuring specificity for the endogenous target. Validation has been demonstrated for Western blotting (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence (ICC/IF), and the reagent has been confirmed to react with human, mouse, and rat samples. The formulation is phosphate-buffered saline (without Mg²⁺ and Ca²⁺), pH 7.4, containing 150 mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide as a preservative, and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant. For shipping, the vial is dispatched at 4 °C; upon receipt, researchers are advised to aliquot and store the antibody at -20 °C and to avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles to preserve activity. This reagent is intended for research use only and is not validated for diagnostic or therapeutic applications. The product is also known by several aliases in the literature, including Frata, mitochondrial, FRDA, Friedreich ataxia protein, and X25, which can be helpful when cross-referencing publications and existing datasets.
