Frataxin (FXN) is a highly conserved mitochondrial iron-binding protein essential for iron-sulfur cluster biogenesis, and loss-of-function mutations in the FXN gene cause Friedreich's ataxia, a progressive neurodegenerative and cardiac disorder. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes endogenous Frataxin and has been validated across three laboratory workflows: Western blot detection of the mature mitochondrial isoform, immunohistochemistry on paraformaldehyde-fixed tissue sections, and immunofluorescence imaging of cultured mammalian cells. The reagent is supplied by Antibodies.com at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide with 50% glycerol as cryoprotectant, and the 100 µl vial supports dozens of immunoblots or coverslip-scale imaging experiments. Reactivity has been confirmed against human, mouse, and rat Frataxin, supporting cross-species comparison in Friedreich's ataxia model systems and patient-derived material, while the polyclonal format tolerates minor epitope variation between species. Short-term storage at 4°C suits working aliquots, and long-term storage at -20°C in single-use aliquots limits freeze-thaw damage to the glycerol-stabilized preparation.
