A rabbit-derived polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets the ferritin heavy chain (FTH1), the 21 kDa subunit responsible for the ferroxidase activity that oxidizes intracellular Fe2+ and sequesters iron inside the ferritin nanocage. Validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence, the unconjugated IgG recognizes FTH1 in human, mouse, and rat samples. The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant, suitable for short-term storage at 4 °C and long-term aliquoting at -20 °C to limit freeze-thaw damage. FTH1 is widely used as a marker of cellular iron homeostasis and oxidative stress, and is increasingly studied in models of neurodegeneration, ferroptosis, hepatic injury, and tumor iron metabolism, where Western blot band detection near 21 kDa and cytoplasmic IHC staining in hepatocytes and neurons are commonly reported.
