This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets FOXE1 (Forkhead Box E1), also known as Thyroid Transcription Factor 2 (TTF-2), a winged-helix/forkhead transcription factor that drives thyroid follicular-cell differentiation and the organogenesis of the thyroid gland. The reagent is raised in rabbit and supplied as 100 µL of unconjugated polyclonal antiserum, validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) on human and mouse samples.
FOXE1 sits at the crossroad of endocrine development and epithelial tumour biology. Homozygous loss-of-function mutations underlie Bamforth–Lazarus syndrome, a condition marked by congenital hypothyroidism, cleft palate, choanal atresia, and the characteristic spiky-hair phenotype, while genome-wide association studies link FOXE1 variants to susceptibility to papillary thyroid carcinoma, breast cancer, and hair-growth regulation. Researchers therefore rely on anti-FOXE1 antibodies to map protein expression across developing and adult thyroid tissue, characterise tumour-associated dysregulation, and probe the transcriptional circuitry that connects forkhead factors to downstream thyroid-differentiation targets such as TPO and thyroglobulin during folliculogenesis.
Working well in both WB and IHC, the antibody supports detection of the approximately 42 kDa FOXE1 band by immunoblotting and clear nuclear staining in fixed tissue sections, fitting studies ranging from developmental endocrinology to oncology biomarker discovery. The unconjugated format leaves full freedom to pair the reagent with a chosen reporter-coupled secondary antibody and chromogenic or fluorescence detection chemistry, while storage at standard refrigerator conditions (commonly 2–8 °C short term, with aliquots recommended to limit freeze-thaw cycles) preserves activity across repeated experimental campaigns.
