FMO3 (Flavin-Containing Monooxygenase 3) is a microsomal phase I drug-metabolizing enzyme that catalyzes the NADPH-dependent oxidation of nucleophilic nitrogen, sulfur, and phosphorus atoms in a wide spectrum of xenobiotics, therapeutic drugs, and dietary amines. In hepatocytes, FMO3 converts volatile trimethylamine (TMA) into the odorless metabolite trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO), and loss-of-function variants in the FMO3 gene are the established molecular basis of trimethylaminuria, commonly known as fish odor syndrome. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against human FMO3 and has been validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence workflows, with reactivity confirmed in human, mouse, and rat samples.

When working with whole-cell or tissue lysates, researchers typically resolve FMO3 near its expected molecular weight of approximately 60 kDa on SDS-PAGE gels, then transfer to PVDF or nitrocellulose membranes for chemiluminescent detection. For immunofluorescence, the antibody performs well on paraformaldehyde-fixed cells where FMO3 localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. Each vial is supplied as a 100 µl liquid aliquot; for best results, store at -20°C and dispense the polyclonal stock into smaller working volumes to limit freeze-thaw cycles.

The reagent is intended for research use only and is well suited to studies of hepatic drug metabolism, xenobiotic clearance, cardiovascular associations involving the TMAO pathway, and investigation of trimethylaminuria patient-derived samples.
