Fukutin (FKTN) is a Golgi-resident putative glycosyltransferase required for proper O-mannosyl glycosylation of alpha-dystroglycan in skeletal muscle and neural tissue. Loss-of-function mutations in the FKTN gene cause Fukuyama-type congenital muscular dystrophy (FCMD), one of the most common autosomal recessive muscular dystrophies in Japan, and have also been linked to Walker-Warburg syndrome and limb-girdle muscular dystrophy.
This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied in a 200 µL volume and validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC). Investigators studying dystroglycanopathies, neuromuscular glycosylation defects, cortical neuronal migration disorders, and congenital muscular dystrophy diagnostics use anti-FKTN antibodies to evaluate Fukutin expression in patient biopsy tissue, characterize glycosyltransferase behavior in cultured myoblasts, and screen for aberrant protein levels in disease models.
