This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against human fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2), also known as basic FGF or bFGF, an 18 kDa heparin-binding mitogen that drives proliferation, angiogenesis, and tissue repair across many biological systems. The reagent is supplied as an unconjugated 100 µl liquid aliquot of polyclonal IgG raised in rabbit, intended for detection of endogenous FGF2 in human samples via Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows.

FGF2 is a widely studied growth factor implicated in embryonic development, wound healing, tumor angiogenesis, and neural stem cell maintenance. Researchers use anti-FGF2 antibodies to localize the protein in fixed tissue sections and to detect the mature 18 kDa form as well as higher molecular weight isoforms generated by alternative translation initiation in cell lysates. The unconjugated format offers flexibility for chromogenic IHC or chemiluminescent Western blot detection using standard secondary reagents of the researcher's choice, and reactivity with the human antigen has been confirmed for both applications listed for this lot.

Each vial contains 100 µl of antibody sufficient for multiple staining or blotting experiments depending on dilution. The product should be refrigerated, protected from light, and aliquoted on first use to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles and preserve activity across the stated shelf life. For Western blot, typical working dilutions range from 1:500 to 1:2000 starting points depending on sample abundance, and for IHC on paraffin-embedded sections, optimization around 1:100 to 1:500 is recommended.
