Anti-FDPS Antibody

Raised in rabbit against the farnesyl diphosphate synthase (FDPS) target, this unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. The 100 µl volume is provided for western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows, and reactivity is demonstrated against human, mouse, and rat samples.

FDPS catalyzes the sequential condensation of isopentenyl diphosphate with dimethylallyl diphosphate to form geranyl diphosphate and then farnesyl diphosphate, a key step in the mevalonate pathway that supports cholesterol biosynthesis, protein prenylation, and dolichol production. The enzyme is a research focus in studies of bone-resorbing osteoclast activity, statin and bisphosphonate pharmacology, and tumor cell proliferation, where altered prenylation of Ras and Rho GTPases is of interest.

Store refrigerated; the glycerol and sodium azide formulation helps protect the antibody for repeated aliquot use across multiple experiments. For western blot, samples are resolved on SDS-PAGE and the expected band appears near the predicted molecular weight of FDPS, around 48 kDa. For immunohistochemistry, formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections can be used after antigen retrieval.
