Rabbit polyclonal IgG raised against Fas-Activated Serine/Threonine Kinase (FASTK), the founding member of the FASTK family of mitochondrial RNA-binding proteins that direct post-transcriptional processing of organellar transcripts. Originally identified in Jurkat T cells as a kinase activated during Fas-mediated apoptosis, FASTK localizes to mitochondrial RNA granules where it binds the 3' end of MT-ND6 mRNA (encoding NADH dehydrogenase complex I subunit 6) and protects the transcript from exonucleolytic decay. Knockout of FASTK in mice reduces complex I activity by 50–60%, and depletion in cell lines collapses the MT-ND6 transcript. The reagent is supplied unconjugated in a 200 µl vial and is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence across human, mouse, and rat samples. Predicted band sizes correspond to the two known isoforms: the cytosolic/nuclear form (cytoFASTK) at roughly 60 kDa and the shorter mitochondrial isoform (mitoFASTK) that initiates translation at an alternative downstream start site and runs near 50 kDa. Store at -20 °C in working aliquots and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles; the unconjugated format lets users pair the antibody with HRP, fluorophore, or biotin labels of their choice. This Antibodies.com reagent is suited to studies of Fas/TNF apoptosis signaling, mitochondrial gene expression, oxidative phosphorylation, and cellular stress responses.
