This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets fumarylacetoacetate hydrolase (FAH), the terminal enzyme of the tyrosine catabolic pathway whose loss-of-function mutations cause hereditary tyrosinemia type I. Raised in rabbit and supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, the reagent is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples. Each vial contains 100 µl of antibody, packaged ready for immunoblotting of liver and kidney lysates and for IHC localization in formalin-fixed tissue sections.

FAH is most strongly expressed in hepatocytes, where it cleaves fumarylacetoacetate into fumarate and acetoacetate, making this polyclonal reagent useful for studies of metabolic liver disease, hepatocyte differentiation, and rodent tyrosinemia models. Investigators working on gene therapy approaches, oxidative stress responses in hepatocytes, and the downstream effects of accumulated tyrosine metabolites will benefit from the polyclonal format, which recognizes multiple epitopes across the full-length protein. For best results, store at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles of the glycerol-containing buffer, and include appropriate positive and negative tissue controls alongside FAH-deficient samples.
