FABP7 (Fatty Acid-Binding Protein 7, also known as brain lipid-binding protein, BLBP) is a 15 kDa intracellular carrier protein most strongly expressed in radial glia, astrocytes, and neural progenitor populations of the developing and adult central nervous system. It shuttles long-chain fatty acids and related lipophilic ligands through the cytoplasm, supporting lipid metabolism, cell migration, and differentiation programs that are particularly active during neurogenesis and gliogenesis.

This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against FABP7 and is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on Human, Mouse, and Rat samples. Supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS supplemented with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant, the 100 µl aliquot is ready to dilute into standard blocking and antibody incubation buffers without further preparation.

Researchers commonly apply this reagent to track radial glia and astrocyte lineage cells in brain sections, to probe FABP7 expression in glioma and melanoma cell models where the protein has been linked to tumor growth and invasiveness, and to confirm endogenous levels of the target in tissue lysates by western blot. Storage at 4°C is appropriate for short-term use; for longer-term storage, keep frozen at -20°C in small working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles of the glycerol-containing solution.
