Raised in rabbit against the fatty acid-binding protein 3 target, this polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antibody at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, ready for routine immunodetection workflows.

FABP3, also referenced as heart-type fatty acid-binding protein (H-FABP), is a 15 kDa intracellular lipid chaperone that shuttles long-chain fatty acids within cardiomyocytes, oxidative skeletal muscle fibers, and select neuronal populations. Because the protein leaks rapidly from damaged myocytes, it is investigated as an early circulating biomarker of myocardial injury alongside troponin, and it is also tracked in studies of skeletal muscle differentiation, metabolic reprogramming in tumors, and neuronal lipid handling.

Validated applications include Western blot on whole-cell lysates, immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed tissue sections, and immunofluorescence for subcellular localization. The antibody cross-reacts with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, giving it utility across standard translational models. Store the glycerol-containing formulation at -20 °C in single-use aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles and protect the reconstituted protein; the sodium azide preservative should be handled with appropriate laboratory precautions.
