This polyclonal antibody targets FABP2 (Fatty Acid Binding Protein 2, also referred to as intestinal-type I-FABP), a small cytosolic lipid-binding protein expressed predominantly in enterocytes of the small intestinal epithelium, where it participates in the intracellular trafficking of long-chain fatty acids and their delivery to intracellular metabolic compartments.

Raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated reagent, the antibody is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows and cross-reacts with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, supporting comparative studies across human biopsy material and rodent experimental models.

The preparation is formulated at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide as a preservative and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant, and is provided by Antibodies.com as a 100 µL aliquot that tolerates standard freeze-thaw handling for repeated experimental use.

Common research applications include investigation of intestinal mucosal injury, where circulating I-FABP serves as an early biomarker of epithelial damage, studies of dietary lipid absorption, characterization of enterocyte differentiation along the crypt-villus axis, and exploration of metabolic conditions such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and inflammatory bowel disease. The reagent is also used in epithelial barrier function assays, gut ischemia-reperfusion models, and nutritional absorption research.
