Factor IX (F9) is a vitamin K-dependent serine protease that drives the intrinsic pathway of the blood coagulation cascade, and loss-of-function mutations in this clotting factor are the molecular cause of Hemophilia B. This unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com was raised in rabbit and is validated for Western Blot detection of endogenous F9 protein in human, mouse, and rat samples. The antibody is supplied as 50 µl of liquid at 1 mg/ml in Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 15 mM sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, and is ready to dilute into standard blocking and incubation buffers for immunoblotting workflows. Because the host species is rabbit and the reagent is unconjugated, it pairs cleanly with anti-rabbit HRP or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies, supporting both chemiluminescent and fluorescent Western Blot readouts. Investigators studying hepatic biosynthesis of coagulation factors, hemophilia B animal model systems, gene-therapy and protein-replacement approaches for clotting-factor deficiency, and zymogen activation of serine proteases can use this reagent to monitor F9 protein levels across cell lysates and tissue homogenates. The polyclonal format offers recognition of multiple epitopes on the F9 protein, which is useful when probing both full-length and processed forms of the zymogen. The product should be stored refrigerated in the dark to protect from light, with the sodium azide acting as a preservative; aliquoting upon first use is recommended to limit freeze-thaw cycles that gradually erode polyclonal titer.
