The F12 gene encodes coagulation factor XII, also known as Hageman factor, a plasma serine protease that initiates the contact activation pathway of the intrinsic coagulation cascade and contributes to the kallikrein-kinin system. This polyclonal antibody, raised in rabbit and distributed by Antibodies.com, recognizes the heavy chain region of human F12 and cross-reacts with the mouse and rat orthologs, making it useful for comparative studies in cardiovascular and inflammation research.

Supplied as 100 µl at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, the unconjugated reagent is validated for Western blot detection of F12 from cell lysates and tissue homogenates. The glycerol-containing buffer supports storage at -20 °C, and the sodium azide acts as a preservative to prevent microbial contamination across repeated uses.

Researchers studying hereditary angioedema, thrombotic disorders, contact pathway biology, and host-response models have used F12-targeting antibodies to track zymogen activation and heavy-chain cleavage patterns in plasma and liver samples. Because the antibody binds the heavy chain specifically, it discriminates the activated form of the protease from the light-chain catalytic domain, supporting mechanistic studies of contact activation both in vitro and in vivo.
