This rabbit polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com targets estrogen receptor alpha (ERα), the nuclear hormone receptor encoded by the ESR1 gene that mediates estrogen-driven transcriptional programs in reproductive, bone, cardiovascular, and neural tissues. Raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated reagent in a 100 µl volume, the antibody is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and ELISA workflows against human, mouse, and rat samples.

ERα is widely studied as a clinical biomarker and mechanistic driver in hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer, where its expression status guides endocrine therapy decisions, and as a research tool in reproductive biology, osteoporosis models, and cardiovascular studies. The polyclonal format increases the likelihood of recognizing multiple epitopes across the receptor's N-terminal, DNA-binding, and ligand-binding domains, which is useful when probing truncated isoforms, mutant receptors, or post-translationally modified forms.

For western blot, clear bands are typically observed near the expected molecular weight of approximately 66 kDa, with larger bands sometimes reflecting dimeric receptor complexes. In IHC and IF on formalin-fixed or frozen tissue sections, nuclear staining is the expected localization pattern, reflecting ERα's role as a DNA-associated transcription factor. Aliquot upon receipt and store refrigerated to preserve performance across multiple experiments.
