Estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) is a 66 kDa nuclear hormone receptor that mediates transcriptional responses to estrogen and is a central marker in studies of hormone-responsive cancers. The P98 polyclonal antibody, raised in rabbit and supplied by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated primary reagent, targets the N-terminal region of ERα and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat samples. Each vial contains 50 µl of affinity-purified IgG at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.2, with 0.05% sodium azide as a preservative. The reagent is widely applied to breast, endometrial, and ovarian tissue research and to ERα-positive cancer cell line models. For IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections, heat-induced antigen retrieval in citrate buffer, pH 6.0, is recommended. Short-term storage refrigerated at 4°C is suitable for working aliquots; for long-term stability, freeze at -20°C in single-use aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve antibody activity. Sodium azide should be removed by buffer exchange before conjugating to HRP, as it inhibits peroxidase activity.
