Erythropoietin (EPO) is a glycoprotein cytokine produced chiefly by interstitial fibroblasts of the renal cortex, where it acts as the principal hormonal regulator of red blood cell production through engagement of the EPO receptor on erythroid progenitors.
This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com was raised against the human EPO protein and recognizes the target in denatured form on western blot as well as in fixed tissue sections by immunohistochemistry. Investigators use it to localize EPO-producing cells in kidney and liver specimens, to monitor hypoxia-driven changes in EPO expression in HIF signaling studies, and to characterize endogenous hormone output in cell culture models relevant to anemia and polycythemia research.
The reagent is supplied unconjugated at 100 µl per vial, supporting flexible pairing with HRP, biotin, or fluorophore-labelled secondary reagents, and reactivity has been validated against human samples. For handling, store at -20 °C in single-use aliquots to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles of the polyclonal preparation.
