Phospho-specific detection of activated EphA2 receptor tyrosine kinase is enabled by this rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com, raised against the Y588 phospho-tyrosine residue within the kinase activation loop. The unconjugated antibody supports immunohistochemistry workflows on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections, allowing researchers to localize the active receptor population in tumor and developmental specimens.

Reactivity has been validated against human and mouse samples. The reagent is supplied as a 100 µl aliquot at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) at approximately pH 7.2, with 0.05% sodium azide added as a preservative. Because the antibody is unconjugated, it can be paired with the user's preferred secondary detection system, including HRP, biotin, or fluorophore conjugates. The polyclonal format provides recognition of multiple epitopes around the phospho-Y588 modification, an advantage for detecting the modification in contexts where surrounding sequence may vary.

EphA2 is overexpressed and dysregulated in several epithelial cancers, and phosphorylation at Y588 is associated with ligand-independent receptor activation that drives pro-migratory and pro-angiogenic signaling. Investigators studying cancer progression, angiogenesis, or cell migration can use this reagent to identify sites of active receptor signaling within heterogeneous tissue samples. The 1 mg/ml stock supports multiple staining runs, and the standard PBS formulation is compatible with most automated immunohistochemistry platforms. As a research-use reagent, it complements downstream approaches such as western blot and immunofluorescence when phospho-EphA2 dynamics need to be tracked across model systems.
