This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets EIF5B (Eukaryotic Translation Initiation Factor 5B), a cytoplasmic GTPase of approximately 139 kDa that drives joining of the 60S and 40S ribosomal subunits during the initiation phase of protein translation. The unconjugated IgG reagent is supplied as a 50 µl vial and is validated for immunofluorescence (IF) on human samples, giving researchers room to pair it with their preferred fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibody and tailor channel selection to their imaging panel.

EIF5B is the eukaryotic counterpart of bacterial initiation factor IF2, and the 1,120-amino-acid protein is conserved across all three kingdoms of life. Its activity is central to accurate start-codon selection and to assembly of the 80S initiation complex, and altered EIF5B expression has been investigated in the context of cellular stress responses, viral IRES-driven initiation, and several cancer cell lines. The antibody is therefore well matched to studies of translation control, ribosome biogenesis, and host-pathogen interactions in fixed-cell imaging preparations.

Liquid format allows refrigerated storage at 4°C in the supplied vial for normal research timelines, with aliquoting recommended to limit freeze-thaw cycles on the bench. Each lot is affinity-purified and validated for IF workflows on human cells and tissues, making it a useful addition to antibody panels focused on translation regulation, ribosome biology, or comparative initiation-factor research.
